Hon. Emmanuel Bello, spokesperson for the Kefas 2027 Campaign Council, has criticised Danji SS over his assessment of Governor Agbu Kefas’s administration, accusing him of focusing on the state’s challenges while overlooking what the campaign council describes as ongoing developmental achievements.
In an open letter titled “Danji and His Fault-Finding Mission,” Bello questioned the conclusions drawn by Danji following his reported tour of Taraba State’s 16 local government areas to interact with residents and assess their concerns.
Bello argued that a fair assessment of the administration should consider developments in education, agriculture, infrastructure, youth empowerment, security and public-sector reforms.
Education and Youth Empowerment
On education, Bello highlighted the state government’s free education policy and the reported 50 per cent reduction in tuition fees at tertiary institutions, arguing that these interventions have helped reduce the financial burden on parents and students.
He also pointed to ongoing school construction and renovation projects, claiming that some of the facilities had suffered neglect under previous administrations.
On youth empowerment, the campaign spokesperson referenced a ₦1.5 billion business support fund under the Taraba State Youth Agency, alongside efforts to verify civil service employment records and facilitate employment opportunities in paramilitary and other security organisations.
Roads, Agriculture and Security
Bello also cited road construction and rehabilitation, particularly along the Chinkai–Kente corridor, as evidence of ongoing infrastructure development.
He maintained that road projects within Jalingo and efforts to improve rural connectivity should form part of any assessment of the administration’s performance.
On agriculture, he pointed to improved access to fertilisers and tractors, while arguing that security interventions had contributed to creating conditions in which farming communities could operate.
Although acknowledging that security challenges persist, Bello maintained that the government’s efforts should not be disregarded.
Pensions and Civil Service Reforms
The campaign spokesperson further highlighted government efforts to address pension and gratuity-related issues, including the restoration of verification processes for retirees seeking to access their entitlements.
He also referenced initiatives intended to improve civil service welfare, training, professionalism and salary administration.
Bello argued that longstanding problems should be assessed within their historical context rather than attributed exclusively to the current administration.
Bello Questions Danji’s Legislative Record
Beyond defending Governor Kefas, Bello challenged Danji to explain what he considered shortcomings in his record as a former member of the House of Representatives.
He compared Danji’s tenure with the current representation of Senator David Jimkuta, arguing that Danji had not sufficiently distinguished himself in legislative representation.
Bello also challenged Danji to present practical policy alternatives to the problems he identified, rather than concentrating on criticism of the governor.
Call for Issue-Based Politics
The campaign spokesperson concluded that Taraba State needs constructive criticism, practical solutions and political engagement that prioritises the interests of residents.
He argued that political leaders should acknowledge verifiable progress while demanding improvements in areas where government performance remains inadequate.
