The Secretary to the Government of Taraba State (SGS), Chief Gebon Timothy Kataps Ngwii, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas-led administration to attracting sustainable investments and strengthening international partnerships that will drive economic growth across the state.
Chief Kataps gave the assurance while receiving a delegation from the Global Sustainable Futures Network (GSFN), United Kingdom, led by its Founder and Director, Dr. Renuka Thakore, during a courtesy visit as part of activities for the Sustainable Development and Investment Conference (SDIC) 2026.
The delegation was accompanied by the Founder and Executive Director of the Initiative for Climate Change and Renewable Energy Advocacy (ICCREA), Mr. Folorunsho Dayo Oluwafemi, alongside other stakeholders championing sustainable agriculture, climate resilience, renewable energy, and green investment.
Speaking during the meeting, the SGS described Taraba as one of Nigeria’s most promising destinations for sustainable investment, citing its vast potential in coffee, tea, oil palm, and other agricultural value chains. He reiterated the state government’s resolve to provide an enabling environment for responsible investors, development partners, and research institutions seeking to invest in the state’s abundant natural resources.
Chief Kataps emphasized that the Taraba State Government remains committed to initiatives that promote agricultural transformation, environmental sustainability, innovation, and inclusive economic development. He noted that strategic collaborations with reputable international organizations are essential to unlocking the state’s full investment potential.
He commended the Global Sustainable Futures Network (GSFN) and the Initiative for Climate Change and Renewable Energy Advocacy (ICCREA) for choosing Taraba as a strategic partner in advancing sustainable development, expressing confidence that the collaboration would open new opportunities for international investment, knowledge exchange, and long-term development. He assured the delegation of the government’s unwavering support in strengthening the partnership.
In her remarks, Dr. Renuka Thakore applauded the Taraba State Government’s commitment to sustainable development and described the state as uniquely positioned to become a leading hub for tree-based agriculture and climate-smart investments. She emphasized the importance of global partnerships, innovation, and responsible investment in building climate-resilient communities and improving rural livelihoods.
The visit formed part of a week-long engagement designed to deepen collaboration on sustainable investment initiatives and position Taraba State as a preferred destination for climate-smart agriculture, green enterprise, and sustainable economic development.
