JALINGO, Taraba State — The National Association of Former Local Government Council Chairmen in Nigeria (NALGON Emeritus), Taraba State Chapter, has appointed the Secretary to the Government of Taraba State, Chief Barr. Gebon Timothy Kataps, as Chairman of its Board of Trustees.
The appointment was formally announced during a ceremony held at the Conference Hall of the Office of the Secretary to the Government in Jalingo, where the leadership of the association presented Chief Kataps with his letter of appointment.

Speaking at the event, the National President of NALGON Emeritus said the appointment was in recognition of Chief Kataps’ distinguished record in public service and his enduring contributions to grassroots governance in Taraba State and Nigeria.
He noted that Chief Kataps served as the elected Chairman of a Local Government Council from 1997 to 2003. During his tenure, he also led the Taraba State Chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) before rising to the position of National Vice Chairman of the association.
According to the National President, Chief Kataps’ extensive leadership experience and commitment to local government administration make him well suited to guide the Board of Trustees and support the objectives of NALGON Emeritus.
In his acceptance remarks, Chief Kataps expressed gratitude to the leadership and members of the association for the confidence reposed in him, describing the appointment as both an honour and a responsibility to serve.
He pledged to work collaboratively with members of the Board of Trustees to foster unity within the association, protect the interests of former local government council chairmen, and uphold the values and vision upon which NALGON Emeritus was established.
The ceremony also witnessed the inauguration of other members of the Board of Trustees, ushering in a new phase of leadership for the Taraba State Chapter of the association.
