Urges supporters, political stakeholders to shun insults, personal attacks

Senator Emmanuel Bwacha has called on political parties, supporters and stakeholders in Taraba State to embrace issue-based campaigns ahead of the Governorship and State House of Assembly elections.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, under the title “Peaceful Campaigning: A Call for Issue-Based Politics and Responsible Engagement,” Bwacha urged political actors to focus their campaigns on policies, ideas and their vision for the state rather than personalities and personal attacks.
“As campaigns for the Governorship and State House of Assembly elections commence, our message to all our supporters, party members, political associates, youths, women and, indeed, all citizens of Taraba State is clear: let us campaign on issues, not personalities; on ideas, not insults; and on our vision for the future, not attacks on individuals,” he said.
The senator appealed to supporters and political stakeholders to conduct themselves with responsibility, maturity and decorum throughout the campaign period.
He stressed the importance of respecting divergent political opinions and ensuring that political engagements contribute to strengthening the state rather than deepening divisions among its citizens.
According to Bwacha, the election should be regarded as a contest of ideas, vision and commitment to public service.
“This election is a contest of ideas, vision and commitment to service. Let us therefore engage one another with dignity, tolerance and mutual respect, while allowing the electorate to freely and peacefully make their choice,” he said.
He further urged political actors to place the interests and aspirations of the people at the centre of their campaigns.
“Our politics must always be about the people, their aspirations and their future,” Bwacha said.
He expressed the hope that the 2026/2027 electoral season would contribute to building a political culture capable of reflecting his vision of a peaceful, united and progressive Taraba State.
Media Aide: Bwacha’s Campaign Has Always Promoted Peace
Speaking to NewsNexus, the Senator’s Senior Special Assistant on Media, Mr. Joshua Nafinji, reiterated that Senator Bwacha’s political communication and media campaigns have consistently been focused on issues, mutual respect and peaceful political engagement.
Nafinji said the senator has maintained a commitment to engaging political opponents and stakeholders with respect, while focusing public discourse on issues affecting the people and the development of Taraba State.
According to him, Senator Bwacha is a man of peace who has consistently advocated peaceful campaigns and issue-based politics.
He said the latest statement was therefore consistent with the senator’s approach to political engagement, stressing that political differences should not be allowed to degenerate into personal attacks, insults or actions capable of threatening the peace of the state.
Nafinji urged supporters and political associates to uphold the same principles as campaigns intensify, saying that political competition should provide an opportunity for citizens to compare ideas, programmes and visions for the future.
The statement comes as political activities intensify in Taraba ahead of the forthcoming governorship and State House of Assembly elections, with political parties and aspirants expected to take their campaigns to communities across the state.
Bwacha’s appeal places emphasis on peaceful political participation, tolerance and issue-driven engagement as the state enters another competitive electoral season.
