President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 presidential campaign council has unveiled a broad campaign structure in which several prominent political figures connected to Taraba State have been assigned roles in the mobilisation and coordination of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign.
The campaign council, released by the APC on Saturday, August 22, 2026, is chaired by President Tinubu, with Vice President Kashim Shettima and APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, serving as Vice Chairmen. Former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, was appointed Director-General of the campaign council.
Among the notable names from or associated with Taraba State in the campaign structure is Senator Sani Danladi, who has been appointed Zonal Director, Election Planning, Coordination and Mobilisation for the North-East.
Danladi will be responsible for coordinating election planning and mobilisation activities across the six states of the North-East geopolitical zone. He will work under the Deputy Director-General in charge of Election Planning, Coordination and Monitoring, Hon. James Abiodun Faleke.
Also listed in the campaign structure is former Taraba State Governor, Rev. Jolly Nyame, who has been appointed to the Contact Mobilisation directorate. Nyame is among a group of prominent former political office holders and political figures assigned responsibility for building contacts and broad-based political mobilisation for the Tinubu campaign.
Another prominent Taraba-linked figure, Rt. Hon. Babangida Nguroje, former Speaker of the House of Representatives, has been appointed to the Parliamentary Mobilisation directorate.
Nguroje is listed alongside former Senate Presidents, former Speakers and other senior political figures tasked with mobilising parliamentary stakeholders in support of the APC presidential campaign.
The campaign structure also provides for a State Campaign Council, comprising the State Campaign Coordinator, APC state executive members, serving ministers, APC candidates, elected APC local government chairpersons and other designated coordinators responsible for grassroots, stakeholder, youth, women, humanitarian and contact mobilisation.
For Taraba State, Governor Agbu Kefas has been identified as the State Campaign Coordinator, while Uba Maigari is listed in the Taraba State campaign structure.
The inclusion of these figures gives Taraba a presence across different levels of the campaign architecture, ranging from North-East zonal election planning and coordination to contact and parliamentary mobilisation and the state-level campaign structure.
The appointments come as the APC begins preparations for the 2027 presidential election, with the ruling party seeking to consolidate its political structure and mobilise support across the country.
The expanded campaign council contains directorates covering election planning, mobilisation, policy, media and strategic communication, finance, fundraising, stakeholder mobilisation, grassroots engagement, youth and women mobilisation, digital operations, parliamentary mobilisation and other areas.
The emergence of several Taraba-connected personalities in the campaign structure is expected to attract considerable political attention in the state, particularly given the strategic importance of the North-East in the 2027 presidential contest.
NewsNexus will continue to monitor developments surrounding the APC campaign structure and the role of Taraba political leaders in the 2027 presidential election.
