Leadership, in the vision presented by Barr. Chinedu Amure, is not simply about making promises. It is about service, experience, integrity, accountability and the capacity to translate ideas into measurable results.

With more than 28 years of professional experience in legal practice, corporate management and organisational leadership, Amure is seeking to lead the Unity Schools Old Students Association (USOSA) as President-General on a platform she describes as “One USOSA — United, Sustainable and Impactful.”

Her campaign is built around the proposition of building on the progress already achieved while creating greater impact for members, Unity Schools and the wider society.

A RECORD OF SERVICE

An alumna of FGGC Bakori (1982–1988), Chinedu Amure is a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria and a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales.

She obtained her LLB from Lagos State University in 1991 and an LLM in Corporate Finance Law from the University of Westminster, London, in 2007.

Her professional career has included legal practice in Nigeria and the United Kingdom, as well as senior corporate responsibilities.

According to her profile, she was part of the management team in the Commercial Department of Nigerian Agip Oil Company Limited from 2013 to 2024, and has been involved with OANDO Energy Resources (Nigeria) Limited from 2024 to date.

Earlier, she served as Principal Partner at Charles Hill & Co. Solicitors, London, where her work included arbitration, litigation, revenue growth and partnerships.

Her stated areas of professional competence include negotiation, relationship management and litigation.

USOSA LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE

Amure’s involvement with USOSA has also been central to her campaign message.

She served as National Legal Adviser, USOSA, from 2018 to 2022, before becoming Vice President-General in 2022, a position she says she continues to hold.

As Legal Adviser, she spearheaded and coordinated the review of the association’s existing constitution.

As Vice President-General, her campaign profile states that she has been actively involved in the administration of USOSA alongside the President-General, supported USOSA women through various courses and launched initiatives aimed at positively impacting women within the association.

Her campaign also highlights her longstanding commitment to USOSA and girl-child education.

THE FOUR-POINT AGENDA

At the centre of the Amure campaign is a four-point policy platform.

1. Money That Works for Members

The proposed agenda includes the establishment of a USOSA Cooperative Society, with diversified revenue streams, member-focused financial products and transparent reporting.

The campaign says the objective is to create practical financial opportunities for members while strengthening the association’s sustainability.

2. One USOSA, Everywhere

Amure proposes a stronger digital and professional network connecting USOSAns across Nigeria and internationally.

The agenda includes a digital platform and mobile application, professional network and business directory, stronger local and international chapter engagement, and strategic partnerships.

The objective is to make USOSA more connected and create opportunities for members to collaborate professionally and socially.

3. Schools First, Members Forever

Education remains a major component of the proposed administration.

The agenda includes a national support framework for Unity Schools, career guidance and mentorship, a Future Leaders Programme, young alumni engagement and expanded women-focused initiatives.

The campaign presents this as an effort to strengthen the relationship between USOSA, its members and the schools that brought the association together.

4. USOSAns in Civic and Public Leadership

The fourth pillar seeks to create structured pathways for USOSAns interested in civic engagement and public leadership.

The proposal includes knowledge-sharing on policy and governance, networking among USOSAns in public leadership and leadership-development initiatives, while maintaining a non-partisan approach.

A 24-MONTH ROADMAP

Rather than limiting the campaign to broad promises, Amure’s programme sets out a proposed 24-month impact roadmap.

The first year is focused on consolidating the foundation through stronger governance and secretariat structures, improved transparency, cooperative registration, digital-platform development, member mobilisation, database development and the establishment of a Young Alumni Council.

The roadmap also proposes a pilot USOSA digital platform, a women-focused HERUnity initiative, school-needs assessments, the publication of performance dashboards, operationalisation of the cooperative, a professional and business directory, and a first-year accountability report.

The second year is designed to scale the impact, with proposed cooperative loans and investments, expanded membership, school-improvement projects, the Future Leaders Programme, international chapter engagement and strategic partnerships.

The final stages include measuring school-impact outcomes, reviewing digital-platform adoption, publishing impact reports, conducting an independent performance review, assessing member satisfaction and producing a final two-year impact report.

FROM EXPERIENCE TO THE NEXT CHAPTER

For Amure, the USOSA presidency represents an opportunity to build on existing structures while introducing new mechanisms for accountability, financial sustainability, digital connectivity and educational support.

Her campaign message is encapsulated in three words:

UNITED. SUSTAINABLE. IMPACTFUL.

With a professional background spanning law, corporate management and organisational leadership, alongside years of involvement in USOSA administration, Barr. Chinedu Amure is presenting herself to USOSAns as a candidate focused on continuity where progress has been made and innovation where new opportunities exist.

Her campaign slogan is:

“BUILDING ON PROGRESS, CREATING MORE IMPACT.”

The choice before USOSAns is therefore centred on the direction they want the association to take in its next phase — particularly in the areas of member welfare, education, institutional development, digital connectivity, financial sustainability and civic leadership.

Barr. Chinedu Amure is seeking the position of President-General, Unity Schools Old Students Association (USOSA).
