By Abraham Maina Joda
The Executive Chairman of Bali Local Government Council, Hon. Habila Bala Balasa, has commissioned a newly constructed block of three classrooms and an office at Nabayi Primary School in Kaigama Ward, in another intervention focused on education and grassroots development.
The project is part of efforts to support the free and compulsory education policy of the Taraba State Government under Governor Agbu Kefas.
According to information made available to NewsNexus, Balasa has, within less than a year in office, overseen the construction of more than 15 new classrooms and one new school across Bali Local Government Area.
The Nabayi project, however, represents only one of the numerous projects and interventions embarked upon by the council chairman since assuming office as Executive Chairman of Bali Local Government Council.

A former principal and educationist, Balasa brings professional experience in the education sector to his administration’s interventions in schools. His background in education has informed his emphasis on improving learning environments, expanding access to classrooms and addressing the needs of teachers and pupils at the grassroots.
At the commissioning ceremony, Balasa reaffirmed his commitment to grassroots development and said education remained fundamental to sustainable development.
He also announced plans to facilitate the recruitment of additional teachers for Nabayi Primary School, stressing that physical infrastructure must be complemented by qualified personnel to provide effective teaching and learning.
According to him, no community can make meaningful progress without investing in the education and future of its children.
The intervention is expected to provide pupils in Nabayi and surrounding communities with a more conducive environment for learning, while helping to address some of the infrastructure challenges previously confronting the school.
Speaking at the event, the Jauron Nabayi village, Malam Manu Muhammad, expressed appreciation to the council chairman for the intervention.
The Parent-Teacher Association Chairman, Alhaji Tukura Babi, also appreciated the initiative and assured the council administration of the community’s support for its development efforts.
The Headmistress of Nabayi Primary School, Mrs Denah John, described the intervention as significant, noting that the condition of the school had previously deteriorated considerably.
She commended the council chairman for responding to the situation and providing new facilities for the school.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by the Hakimin Garba-Chede, HRH Rafiudeen Kaigama; directors of the local government council; councillors; education and community stakeholders; party members and other residents.
The latest intervention adds to a growing list of projects undertaken by the Balasa administration since its emergence, with education featuring prominently among the areas receiving attention.
For an administrator with a professional background in education, the focus on school infrastructure and teacher recruitment also reflects an attempt to address both the physical and human-resource components of basic education at the local-government level.
